We all know that now a days it’s not as easy to save as we would like. It’s all always something coming up. Whether its an unexpected bill, an impromptu outing or just an impulsive buy. We can all agree that there has been a time or two where we have treated ourselves or just spent money that was not fully in our budget for whatever the reason maybe.
Now a days to juggle an active social life as well as keep up with your regular expenses requires a lot of pre planning and careful thought for the average working individual.
- I found these four money saving apps that will help you save money and set financial goals. These are in no particular order.
I have used Digit in the past, I personally quit after the free trial period because I didn’t want to spend the $5. Actually when I did use it the fee wasn’t even $5 it was less, I think like $2.99. I realized that I can just set up recurring money into my account using my credit union savings account. Although I didn’t reach my goal as fast I still didn’t see the need to pay for a money saving app. However, the feedback from some of these apps from my fellow friends and colleagues almost make me want to rejoin them sometime in the future. With all that being said, I still want to share this for those of you who are interested in learning more.
**Please note that these apps are not advertisements or sponsored these are just from my own personal research and experience.**
Digit- This is an automatic savings app. Digit analyzes your daily spending apps and takes money to put aside in some form of savings. You can set goals for trips, credit card debt, birthday parties etc. You have the ability to withdraw money and it also has an account overdraft protection option. The first 30 days are free then after its a monthly fee of $5.
SmartyPig- This is an online piggy bank. It is a totally free savings account. There are no fees. You must be at least 18 or over to open an account with an existing savings or checking account. You are able to set financial goals and make transfers. This is a great app to use to remain on schedule with saving money. You are able to set up a recurring contribution monthly or bi weekly directly from your bank account.
Qapital- This is an app that is customized based on your financial goals. You have the unlimited access to transfer to and from Qapital and you can set up a direct deposit to fund your account. They also have an investment side called Qapital Invest where your money is held in a ETF portfolio. There are no fees associated with this app.
Tip Yourself- This free app is designed like a tip jar. You can tip yourself as little as $1. There are no transaction fees or service fees. Transactions usually take about 3 business days to process.
Those are my four saving tips using these money saving apps to build healthy saving habits. Please feel free to leave your comments and feedback on these apps i’m interested in hearing your perspective.
CashBack Apps
Formerly known as Ebates. This is an app that gives you cash back at stores that you often shop at. Some of my favorite stores give at least 2-10% back when you purchase items online. At the end of each quarter you will receive a live check or you can have the money deposited straight into your PayPal account. For those who enjoy online shopping this is a great way to save money.
